The API based eMandate is an electronic mandate process which authorizes users to carry out eMandates using their Netbanking credentials. The service is also referred to as eMandate through Netbanking.
The Aadhaar-based eMandate process is a digital recurring payment mechanism in which the user receives an OTP to his Aadhaar-linked mobile number to facilitate the eMandate process.
eMandates entail registration charges, debit charges, and cancellation charges. Additionally, eMandate service providers collect charges in addition to registration fees when registering mandates.
API eMandates can be authenticated through internet banking or the user’s debit .

A user can amend a mandate by contacting either the company or his banker. Amendments can be carried out through the sponsor bank/merchant through a paper mandate or an eSign eMandate. The API mandate however, does not allow for mandate amendment.
NPCI offers an easy eMandate cancellation facility for users to cancel mandates through the corporate. The user will receive an SMS once the cancellation request has been submitted, as well as an alert message once the request has been confirmed by the service provider and the destination bank.
